If your starting your color journey or maybe you’re always lacking the basics to pull your outfit together this post is for you! More specifically this is for my Summer Season Ladies!
When layering and searching for basics to fill your drawers with, look for smoky grays, whites, and blues as well as mushroom browns. I promise you’ll look great in these smokey and muted colors. You may not be drawn to these tones at first but when you put them on you’ll see why they’re some of your best colors. If you’re still unhappy with being a Summer maybe start with incorporating a few of these basics and see if you notice a difference between how you look in black versus a smoky gray or blue.
Smoky Grays
This would be the first color I would invest in if I was a Summer! Smoky gray is seductive and really draws attention to your hair and other accessories of your outfit. Grays can be hard to differentiate which season they’re from, make sure you ask yourself “is it hazy”? You don’t want a gray that’s too clear and bright, think more soft and muted.

Smoky Blues & Whites
My mom is actually a Summer and her favorite colors to wear are smoky blues, It really is your better than black! Since the Summer color season is cool-toned, which is blue based, you have a wide variety of blues to play around with. When it comes to whites, don’t keep your bright whites around, you’re looking for something soft that’s mixed with a little yellow and some gray, some might call it bone white.

Mushroom Brown
I wish this color was in my season, it can be really gorgeous especially when there’s a purple undertone to the top! Mushroom brown can look great paired with purple and other berry colors in your palette. I really recommend having mushroom brown in your closet for every season!

Maybe you’re still hesitant to change your whole closet and start wearing the colors you’ve been told look better. Even if you don’t fully embrace your colors at least try and create a closet that makes it easy to put together an outfit every day. When I went through my closet I swear I had pieces from every different color season, I’m not sure how I wasn’t clashing everyday. Shopping within your color season takes away asking, “do these colors go together?” and makes every look effortless. Shopping within your color season might be a little difficult but that’s what i’m trying to change, and remember, don’t forget your own personal style at the door.
